What is a mending circle?

I’m so glad you asked! A mending circle is an old-timey gathering of people who want to tackle their mending piles (and have some fun socializing while doing it!).

Why join?

The trouble with mending piles is that they seem to get taller and taller and we never seem to find the time to get to the work. Or sometimes we know we want to repair an item, but we’re not exactly sure how.

Our mending circle aims to build a fun and supportive community of menders while also filling the mending knowledge gap by having both novices and experts at the gathering. If you have a particularly tricky repair and would like to ask for advice, experienced menders can help. If you’re an expert, come lend your wisdom.

Where is the Beargrass Mending Circle?

We currently hold the gathering at rotating locations in Spokane, Washington. If you would like to host a Beargrass Mending Circle in your neighborhood, please contact me.

When do you meet?

We meet monthly. The day/time rotates each month. Join the Facebook group or subscribe below to stay informed.

Does it cost anything?

Nope!

Do I need to have mending experience?

We welcome all levels of menders to our circle. If you are a beginner and just want to join to observe or ask questions, that’s great! If you are an experienced mender and want to join to offer your wisdom to the group or just to have a dedicated time to tackle your projects, that’s great too!

Do I need to attend every month?

Come as frequently, or infrequently, as you like. There is no commitment to attend each month.

What do I need to bring?

Your item(s) in need of repair and the supplies needed to work on the mend. We don’t currently have supplies available for purchase or borrow. We do have a basic sewing machine available. Want to join the gathering, but not sure what supplies you need? Contact me.

Can I attend if I don’t have anything to mend?

Absolutely! Join for the social part or to check out what others are working on. You are also welcome to bring any other craft project you are working on.

How do I learn more?

The best way to stay informed is to join the group on Facebook. You can also subscribe below for a monthly group update.
